Five-tool Player — A player that exhibits the following skills: hits for power, hits for average, speed, good defense, good arm.
nri — Non-roster invitee, a player signed to a contract with an invitation to spring training but not on the 40-man roster.
Type A free agent — A free agent ranked in the top 20% of their classification as determined by Elias Sports Bureau, based on statistics over the previous two seasons. Teams losing a Type A free agent who has been offered arbitration receive a first or second round draft pick from the signing team as well as a sandwich pick between the first and second rounds as compensation.
Type B free agent — A free agent in the second 20% of their classification as determined by Elias Sports Bureau. Teams losing a Type B free agent who has been offered arbitration receive a sandwich draft pick as compensation.
